The public is welcome to join us at the Divine Image Baha’i School (“DIBS”) with students from several surrounding cities. The classes are held twice monthly during the school year from 9:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Stagecoach Community Center in Carlsbad. In total, we have 19 classes each year with a festive graduation in June to celebrate the year.

The student body comprises preschoolers (starting at age 3) through high school students. This year five classes are offered: (1) Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten, (2) first, Second and third grades, (3) Fourth, fifth and sixth grades, (4) Junior Youth 1, and (5) Junior Youth 2. The curriculum is based on Core Curriculum and the Ruhi book series.

Each school day begins with a morning gathering of all the students and parents who sit together in a big circle. After student volunteers say prayers, we discuss any learning/teaching experiences, upcoming events, community service projects, and holy day activities. We also sing Baha’i songs and happy birthday to the students who were born during that month. There are also a few examples of virtues that we let the students discuss in the circle as the younger ones receive encouragement from their older peers. After classes, the students enjoy snacks provided by volunteer families and play outside with their friends. Soccer is always a favorite game!

The school is also very involved in community service projects. In previous years we collected food for the Community Resource Center. We also had a cereal food drive for the San Diego Food Bank.

In addition to the regular classes, DIBS likes to celebrate! DIBS holds celebrations for most of the Baha'i holy days and holidays such as Ayyam-i-Ha, NawRuz, and Ridvan. The junior youth organized a very fun and successful Fall Festival which included many games and activities all of which were organized and run by the junior youth. Another highlight was the Ayyam-i-ha party held at Stagecoach Park and attended by many students, their families, and friends. The adults had as much fun with the balloon-popping dance-a-thon as did the kids! Some of the children impressed us all with their chalk art, while others were busy playing soccer and dodgeball with some adults. Fun was the motto for the day!

The school starts in September and ends in June.  Summer planning meetings with teachers and administrators were held for another exciting 2021-2022 school year. Once again this year the students will greatly benefit from the dedication of the volunteer teachers who connected very well with their students. DIBS is very proud to provide year after year spiritual education for its students in their path to learning about their Faith in a systemized, organized, and nurturing environment. This school has been in existence for well over two decades thanks to our strong commitment to community service.
